  • 4. Description [Abstrak] : This research was conduted to find out the effect of two independent variables and the dependent variable. The samples of this research are wives in South Sempaja Samarinda. The sampling technique used Purposive Sampling and ontained 96 samples wives in South Sempaja Samarinda. The instruments used in this research is scale intimacy, empathy, and marital satisfaction. The scale used in this research is the likert scale. Validityusing Cronboach Alpha analysis method on the Corrected Item-Total Correlated column, and Reliability testing using Cronbach Alpha. Hypotesis testing using Multiple Regression Model.
    The result showed that there is effect of intimacy and empathy with marital satisfaction on the wives in South Sempaja Samarinda. This is indicated by the value F = 39.78, R2 = 0.461, and p = 0.000. then from the result of the step-wise regression analysis showed that there is a negative effect between intimacy and marital satisfaction with beta = -0.171, t = -2.099, and p = 0.039. then in empathy and marital satisfaction with beta = 0.721, t = 8.846 and p = 0.000. while the significance value < 0.05 explains that the effect that exists between intimacy and empathy for marital satisfaction is very significant.
