The role of culture in building and advancing the nation is to shape the character and morals of nation. The character crisis the failure of cultural development. Culture is nations identity, a nastion’s characteristic, a nation’s character or as a sign that the country has a history of life journey from the beginning of country that can be formed. The purpose of this study is 1)To find out the development of gamelan in America, 2) to find out the response from American society to the gamelan. Based on observations of various facts and phenomena are also actual problems that exist after going through the process of preparation and classification, so that it can be understood. AGI has succeeded in making US society interested in gamelan and gamelan has succeeded in entering important aspect the field of education, it can preserve the culture that Indonesian has and hopes that Indonesian will be better known and American society intersted visiting Indonesia to learn cultural, arts, and explore natural tourism.
