- 4. Description [Abstrak] : Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway project is seen as one of China’s efforts to run OBOR initiative. OBOR is a program initiated by China to connect Asia with Africa and Europe through the mainland, also through maritime routes. At the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation meeting in China on May 2017, a joint communique issued which promised to promote the development of OBOR and there were 10 projects, one of which is Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway project. According to the author, China’s efforts to get the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project are not in line with one of the OBOR destinations that connect mainland China. This is what makes the author interested to raise it in a research. The results show that China’s interest in Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway project based on China’s economy and politic interest. China’s economy interest is to increas its economy through export of high speed rail technology, and China’s political interest is to improve partnership with ASEAN countries to strengthen its dominance in ASEAN region.
