• 4. Description [Abstrak] : The purpose of this research is to determine the correlation between social support and coping stress in out-of-town student who work. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The population in this research is students from Faculty of Social and Political Science, Mulawarman University, 2017 period with total 718 students. The measurement tools used are social support scale and coping stress scale with Likert scale. Validity scale test in this research used the Pearson’s product moment correlation and the reliability test used the Alpha Cronbach technique. Statistical tests were carried out with the help of the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) computer program version 20.0 for Windows. The results of product moment correlation coefficient is 0.345 with 0.000 significance, because the significance score < 0.050, the hypothesize is there is a correlation between social support and coping stress. Emotional (X1), rewards (X2), instruments (X3), information (X4) and social networks (X5) have a very weak relationship with emotional focus coping (Y1), while social network factors (X5) have sufficient correlation by coping with the focus of the problem (Y2) but emotional factors (X1), appreciation (X2), instrument (X3), information (X4) has a very weak correlation with coping with the focus of the problem (Y2).
