• 4. Description [Abstrak] : Commuter marriage is a common phenomenon that has occurred in Indonesia. The separation of residence between the two married couples is caused by the family’s financial needs, professional employment in the workplace and the recognition of the potential of the community. This study aims to find out the description of the intimate and subjective well-being of wives who undergo commuter marriage in Samarinda. This type of research is a type of qualitative research with phenomenological methods. Data collection methods used are interviews and observations. The method of data collection is through in-depth interviews and observations. Data analysis techniques used are processing and preparing data to be analyzed, reading the entire data, analyzing in more detail by coding data, applying the coding process, making narratives and interpretations. The results obtained showed that several factors of intimacy felt by the four subjects originated from the similarity of interests and habits of mindset, physical attraction between two people or more, socioeconomic status that was not much different, and a sense of recognition and appreciation from other people. While on subjective well-being there are factors that influence it such as temperament, other personal characteristics, income and socio-cultural influences. Marriage can withstand the gratitude that exists in all four subjects.
