  • 4. Description [Abstrak] : Hardiness personality is a personality trait that causes stronger individuals both within and outside of self. For athletes, hardiness personality is crucial how the athlete can be strong not in competition, especially in PON match. This study aims to examine the influence of self confidence and expectations of parentspn hardiness in athletes whofailed to pass PON 2016 selection in Samarinda. The number of sample is 100 athletes. Measuring tools used inthis study using the scale of hardiness, scale of confidence and scale expectations of parents. The three scale are compiled by Likert model scaling and statistical analysis using AMOS version 22.0. The results of this study indicate that confidence with hardiness shows the value of regression of 1.361, with a sifnificant level 5%(P-Value of 0.084 or ≤ 0.05) and the critical ratio value (CR) of 1.728 (CR ≥ 1.96) Which means there is no difference between the confidence of the hardiness. Then the expectation of parents with hardiness shows the value of regression coefficient of 0.316, with a significsnt level of 5% (P-Value of 0.173 or ≤ 0.05) and the critical ratio value (CR) of 1.361 (CR ≥ 1.96) which means there is no difference between parental expectations of hardiness.
