Description [Abstrak]: This article stresses on the shift of Japan developmental state model as the implication of government’s reformation ways in economic and politics to buckle the economic crisis. The shift has transformed or changed the identity of the Japan economic development model, which tends to replicate the economic developmental model of the United States and other developed industrial countries, that is, a regulatory state model. Developmental state model with the characteristic of how large the government roles in economic development key making mercantilist-protectionist policy in 1960s was significantly different from that of 1990s. Government roles in Japan experienced a spread of polarization relation and diffuse into new hexagon by involving non government groups in the process of government policy decision making. Furthermore, the government protectionist policy with embedded mercantilism characteristic changed into a more liberal disembedded mercantilism. Finally, there existed an integration of the state economy into the circle of global market based on a mainstream ideology of neo-liberalism.
