• 4. Description [Abstrak] : Indonesia is a country that has a very strategic geographical area and location. This makes Indonesia must have many warships to secure its sea territory. However, Indonesia is actually conducting defense cooperation with the UK in the construction of firgata ships, which are only 2 units. This cooperation raises many questions, especially what Indonesia’s interests are derived from this cooperation with the UK. The focus of this research is to analyze what interests are brought by Indonesia in the frigata shipbuilding cooperation with the UK. The research method uses qualitative research methods and uses secondary data as the main data and uses document study analysis techniques as data validity techniques. To be able to analyze Indonesia’s interests, researchers use the concept of national interest by Donald E Nuechterlain which divides national interests into 4 dimensions of interest, namely Defense, Economy, Regional order, and Ideology. From the results of the analysis, the researcher concluded that Defense interests and Economic Interests are the interests carried by Indonesia in the cooperationin theconstructionofthisfrigate.Thefirstinterestisdefenseandsecurity. The Indonesian government sees that with the cooperation in building frigates with the UK this can be a way or an effort to fulfill Indonesia’s defense and security interests with the aimof increasing its defense capability so that it can cover the ALKI area as well as Indonesia’s vast sea area. second economic interests. The cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom in the construction of this frigate is one of the efforts of the Indonesian government to be able to secure its sea area so that the economic potential of Indonesian waters can be maximized so as to be able to increase the country’s foreign exchange.
