- 4. Description [Abstrak] : The National Sword policy is a waste import ban policy issued by China in 2018. The implementation of National Sword policies greatly affects exporters, such as Hong Kong. With the National Sword policy, Hong Kong has to manage its own waste. Hong Kong also made a series of programs to increase recycling activities and reduce their waste, especially plastic, paper and textile waste. This study aims to describe Hong Kong’s efforts to overcome the impacts of National Sword policy in 2018-2020. The author uses a qualitative research method with primary and secondary data types obtained through a literature study of the World Trade Organization, UN Comtrade, Hong Kong Government’s data, and articles obtained from the internet. The data has been obtained is then studied an elaborated through Matthew Paterson’s green political theory so as to find comprehensive analysis results. The results of the research show that Hong Kong has made several efforts to reduce waste, increase recycling, and educate the public about the importance of protecting the environment.
