• 4. Description [Abstrak] : Culture shock was a profound and negative response to depression conflict and disorientation experience by individuals in a new cultural environment. The purpose of this study was to see how the picture of self- adjustment and interpersonal communication in foreign students who experience culture shock. Researchers was used qualitative research with a case study approach. Researchers was used purposive sampling techniques and data collection methods in this study using in-depth interviews and observation. The results showed that NJ subjects had a picture of healthy and efficient self-adjustment because they were willing to open up to new people and efficient interpersonal communication by trying to build good relationships that were effective in reducing the culture shock experienced by the subject. The second subject AZ, appeared unhealthy responses to situations faced in conformity such as difficulty opening up and ineffective interpersonal communication because by choosing to be more open only to Thai students who added to the subject’s culture shock. The third subject, SP shows healthy or effective self-adjustment by starting to open up to be able to adapt and interpersonal communication is indicated bu the openness that reduces the cultural shock of the subject. The fourth subject MF, shown self-adjustment bu the existence of unhealthy responses such as reluctance to build relationships with Indonesian students and interpersonal communication shown by the feeling of fear of being deceived which makes not dare to build communication that adds to the cultural shock experienced by the subject.
