Description [Abstrak] : The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the effect of job characteristics and individual characteristics simultaneously and partially and which variables have the dominant influence on employee job satisfaction at Mesra Samarinda Hotel operations. This study uses Job Characteristics theory with four indicators, namely Diversity of Skills, Meaning of Tasks, Autonomy, and Feedback. Then there is a theory of Individual Characteristics with four indicators, namely Ability, Value, Attitude, and Interest. The last is Job Satisfaction theory which consists of five indicators, namely Turn Over, Attendance, Age, Job Level, and Company Size. Using descriptive quantitative research methods, namely research using a survey approach through questionnaires with ordinal type or qualitative primary data as measured by the Likert scale so it becomes quantitative. The conclusion of this study states that from the calculation of the F test (Simultaneous) shows that the two variables simultaneously influence Job Satisfaction, from the calculation of the t Test (Partial) shows that between the two independent variables only individual characteristic variables have a partial effect, while the variable Job characteristics do not affect job satisfaction. And the variables that have the most significant effect are individual characteristics, this is due to the variable standardized beta coefficients Individual characteristics are higher compared to Job Characteristics variables. Suggestions given by researchers are 1) Placement of employees according to the right portion of work, 2) Making length of work as consideration of promotion, 3) Providing opportunities for employees to contribute creative ideas to companies, 4) Employees complete work in stages before deadlines , 5) Give strict sanctions to employees who lack discipline.
