• Abstrak (max. 1600 atau 250 kata): This study was carried out in the Kutai National Park, in the Teluk Pandan village which is one of the many villages in the area. The study is meant both to find out and to clarify how Kutai National Park has been discussed by those parties that have interests and how the implications of the discussions result in the emerging of conflict of interests and the changing of significance of the Kutai National Park. In the study, two methods/approaches were used: the “archaeological approach and the “genealogical approach”. The study identified that the damages to the forests of Kutai National Park were not the main motives/concerns of the discourse but the competitions for obtaining the access towards forest resources and land within the Kutai National Park were the main motives which brought about social conflicts and conflicts of interests, both political and economic interests framed by certain policies.
  Another result of the study is the fact that the discourses concerning Kutai National Park brought about a “political reprocity” between the local government of East Kutai and the residents of Teluk Pandan village. Moreover, the discourses also brought about the changing of identity construction of the Buginese community living in Teluk Pandan village.
