- 4. Description [Abstrak] : The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most complex geopolitical issues in modern history. This dispute not only involves two parties directly, but also has become the center of international attention because of its impact on the stability of the Middle East region. Amid the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, China has increased its involvement by offering to become a peace mediator. China’s offer to mediate this conflict shows a shift in its long-standing non-intervention policy. Therefore, the results of this study found that the reasons for China’s involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict under Xi Jinping’s government were influenced by three factors of interest according to Yan Xuetong’s National Interest concept, namely; first, economic interests, namely securing trade routes. This conflict has had an impact as far as the Red Sea which can disrupt China’s oil routes and the suspension of further and more costly trade routes. Second, political interests to increase China’s influence in the Middle East, in accordance with its ambition to become a dominant global power by 2049. This is in line with the Global Security Initiative (GSI) designed by Xi Jinping to act as an intermediary to achieve world peace. Therefore, China has offered to be a mediator for Israel-Palestine several times. Third, political interests where China wants to gain support from Muslim countries regarding the issue of human rights violations in Xinjiang. In this case, China shows itself in line with the agenda of Arab countries on the Israeli-Palestinian issue. China needs to do this to reduce the threat of human rights violations, because China has received a lot of criticism and sanctions from Western countries.
