  • 4. Description [Abstrak] : The concentration of gases trapped in the earth’s atmosphere is known as Greenhouse Gases (GHG) which consist of substances such as carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4) and Dinitogren Monoxide (N2O). The presence of these substances can thin the ozone layer which protects the earth’s atmosphere from direct exposure to sunlight. As a result, the condition of the earth feels hotter every year than in previous years. This situation, known as global warming, occurs due to gas emissions that cannot be controlled and results in changes in the composition of the earth’s atmosphere. Indonesia is one of the countries that contributes to the amount of carbon
emissions in the world. Until 2015, the amount of carbon emissions produced by Indonesia continued to increase, reaching 2.3 million tons of CO2. Indonesia is taking steps to overcome climate change that is occurring. Indonesia’s participation in the Paris Agreement was marked by
ratification in 2016, through Law Number 16 of 2016 concerning Ratification of the Paris Agreement to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The implications of this ratification have an impact on Indonesia’s obligation to reduce GHG emissions as a form of Indonesia’s contribution to efforts to deal with global climate change. This research uses international regime theory and green politics in analyzing Indonesia’s role in climate change through the Paris Agreement. The results of the research show that Indonesia’s operations are carried out in accordance with the Paris Agreement framework and several programs and policies are also in line with green political values.
