4. Description [Abstrak] : The involvement of the United States (U.S) in Syria is an attempt to eradicate terrorism. The United States formed the Combined Joint Task Force \u2013 Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) coalition and collaborated with the Syrian Democratic Force (SDF) to fight Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Since 2015 the U.S sent its military forces to northern Syria to support the SDF against ISIS, ISIS-controlled areas were quickly captured by the SDF and U.S military forces with the support of air strikes from the CJTF-OIR International Coalition. The success of the SDF and the US in defeating the last ISIS-controlled territory in Syria in October 2019 led Donald Trump to make a policy of withdrawing his military forces in Syria. The aim of this research is to describe the U.S’s interest in changing the policy of deploying its military forces in 2019. In this research the authors use the concept of National Interest to conduct the analysis in this study. These results indicate that the change in the placement of US military forces from North Syria to East Syria with the aim of protecting oil fields is part of US defense interests to anticipates the rise of ISIS in Syria and protects its allies and interests of US allies in the Middle East.<\/strong><\/li>\n
