Description [Abstrak] : The Arctic region holds a lot of natural gas potential and it causes a number of countries to focus their energy interests, including Russia which cooperates with China in exploring the Arctic for doing natural gas trade. The purpose of this research is to explain the reasons why Russia chose China in natural gas trade cooperation in the Arctic. The research method uses a type of explanative research with data sources obtained from books, journals, websites, reports and valid news. In this study the author used the concept of Energy Security. The results of this study is divided into economic interests and political interests. As for the economic interests this was supposed to stabilize Russian revenues and to increase Russian investment of natural gas trading cooperation in the Arctic. The political interests in the form of increasing the role and intensity of Russia in the Arctic region to counterweight the US hegemony in the Arctic.<\/strong><\/li>\n
