4. Description [Abstrak] : This article aims to explain about the efforts Berau District Government has made in developing the potential of Maratua Island. This research his a descriptive research, utilizing qualitative data analysis technique using seconder data mined from the internet and literature. To explain the efforts the government has made, writer used tourism concept by Theobald and Sustainable Development concept from Emil Salim. The output of there search shows that in facing tourism objects expansion in Maratua Island and to over come the obstacles and challenges in said object is indeed the duty of Berau District Government to handle numbers of issues with in the island, regarding the island\u2019s location as one of the outer island of Indonesia. Thus, the district government has to ensure the security measurement of Maratua Island and to protect local assets from foreign threats.<\/strong><\/li>\n
