4. Description [Abstrak] : This research is aimed to picture the optimism and subjective well-being on middle-aged single mother. The type of research is qualitative research with case study method. The methods used to collect data in this research are observations and interviews, along with determination of respondents through subject screening using Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS). Data analysis techniques used in this research are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The subject of this research consists of four people, and apart from the main subject there are four other informants. The result of this research shows the picture of the optimism and subjective well-being on middle-aged single mother, wherein the four subjects are capable to be grateful for the life they have lived whilst thinking positively towards anything that will happen. This can be achieved because of (1) supports from people around the single mothers or their neighbors. (2) Routines or daily activities that highly influence the subjects\u2019 emotional states. (3) Their children who become the source of pride and accomplishment for the single mothers. (4) Incomes or works do not become the main factors of the subjects\u2019 well-being.<\/strong><\/li>\n
