4. Description [Abstrak]:<\/strong> This research aims at explaining the role of state in industrialization process in Malaysia by giving the descriptions of state interventions during the industrial development trought their various policies and institutions. By using descriptive qualitative method, this research is focused on the intensity and pattern of state intervention, and the implications to industrialization. The changes of economy system from traditional economy (exctractive\/ agricultural economy) into knowledge and high-technology based \u2013 manufacture and service industrial economy, and form labor-intensive industry to capital-intensive\/labor-saved industry involved high government interference. The result of this research showed that the intervention is directed to create fair and equal inter-ethnic divission of labour, and to protect local industries by imposing protective policies (ISI) and subsidies (EOI). Another trends emerged from this research are that achieving nation status is obtained by controlling the sciences and technology access, and that international marked-oriented and liberalization are the keys of industrialization in Malaysia.<\/li>\n
