Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah menurunnya kinerja pegawai pada Kantor Kecamatan Kongbeng Kabupaten Kutai Timur. Melihat fenomena tersebut, maka penulis mencoba untuk melihat hubungan atau pengaruh motivasi kerja sebagai salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja pegawai. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Kantor Kecamatan Kongbeng Kabupaten Kutai Timur dengan sampel yang berjumlah 46 orang. Selanjutnya, data penelitian diperoleh dengan cara observasi, penyebaran kuesioner, dokumentasi dan penelitian kepustakaan. Kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan korelasi pearson product moment, analisis liniear sederhana, kecepatan prediksi dan analisis koefisien penentu atau koefisien determinasi. Setelah digunakan rangkaian uji statistik, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi kerja memiliki pengaru yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai pada Kantor Kecamatan Kongbeng Kabupaten Kutai Timur yang sebesar 34,5%  yang berarti bahwa sisanya 65,5% dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain.\n<p><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>  5.
