4. Description [Abstrak] : This article aims to explain the Turkey interest to join to Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The type of research is explanative analysis, the technique of data analyze is qualitative and using secondary data from internet and library research. To explain Turkey\u2019s interest to join Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the author uses regional security theory and national interest theory. The results of this study indicated that Turkey\u2019s interest to join fully in the SCO is based on the national interests developed by the AKP, the interests of security and economic. In the interest of security, Turkey wants to prevent the trans-national crime of drug trafficking and the spread of the influence of terrorism, in addition to the uncertainty of the membership in the European Union. In the economic interests, Turkey wants to increase national GDP by establishing free trade agreements with the member of the SCO, especially Russia and China, and with the increasing demands energy in the country, Turkey needs to participate in energy trading in Central Asia, so that the position of Turkey can be a supplier of energy from Central Asia to Europe.<\/strong><\/li>\n
