Description [Abstrak] : In the recent years, ice in the Arctic has become quickly melts, opening up new possibilities for natural resource exploration and can function as the transit route for the global ship traffic. Consequently, Arctic coastal nation has renewed their political and economic interest in this region. Russia is the most determined and assertive player in the Arctic. Since the release of Russia\u2019s New Arctic Strategy, the activity of Russia in the Arctic Ocean has increased, specifically for military build-up in the Arctic that has become a threat for the other Arctic coastal nation. These situation has force the United States to take responses toward militarization in this region. According to the concept by Robert Jervis on Security Dilemma, the action by a state to heighten its security, such as increasing its military strength or making alliance, can lead other states to respond with similiar measures, increasing tensions between states that can create conflict. This study shows the United States\u2019 responses to Russia\u2019s New Arctic Strategy divide by two ways, which is the arm races and the strengthening of the alliance. In terms of the arm races, United States has processed the procurement of ice-breaking vessels, builds up the spy network, and upgrades the military facility in Alaska. While the strengthens of the alliance by military exercises and builds up missile defense system in the alliance territory.<\/strong><\/li>\n
