Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah menurunnya Prestasi Kerja pegawai dikantor Kecamatan Muara Wahau  Kabupaten Kutai Timur. Melihat fenomena tersebut, maka penulis mencoba untuk melihat hubungan antara motivasi kerja dan prestasi kerja.<br \/>\nPenelitian ini menggunakan metode sensus. Selanjutnya, data penelitian diperoleh dengan cara observasi, penyebaran kuesioner, dokumentasi dan penelitian kepustakaan. Untuk mendapatkan hasil digunakan rumus reank spearman dengan menentukan jenjang dari pertanyaan setiap variabel.<br \/>\nDengan melakukan analisis variabel, dapat dilihat bahwa variabel motivasi termasuk dalam kategori tinggi dengan persentase 52,08 % dan variabel prestasi kerja termasuk kategori tinggi dengan presentase 81,25 %. Kemudian hasil  dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi kerja memiliki hubungan yang positif tetapi tidak signifikan terhadap prestasi kerja pegawai dikantor Kecamatan Muara Wahau Kabupaten Kutai Timur.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>  5.
