4. Description [Abstrak]:<\/strong> This study was carried out in the Kutai National Park, more precisely, in Teluk Pandan village, one of the many villages in the Park’s areas. The study aims at finding out and to clarifying how the Kutai National Park has been disputed by interested \u00a0parties, the implications of the disputes, and the changing significance of the Kutai National Park. In carrying out the study, two methods\/approaches were used: the \u201carchaeological approach and the \u201cgenealogical approach\u201d. The study identified \u00a0that the damages of the forests in the Kutai National Park were not the main issue or concern raised in the disputes. Rather, it is \u00a0the competition in obtaining access towards forest resources and land within the Kutai National Park that drives social conflicts and conflicts of interests, both political interests and economic interests. Moreover,\u00a0the discourses concerning Kutai National Park brought about \u201cpolitical reprocity\u201d between local government of East Kutai and the residents of Teluk Pandan village. In addiion, the discourses brought about the change in identity construction of the Buginese community living in Teluk Pandan village.<\/li>\n
