Pembangunan dan peningkatan sarana drainase dengan membuat saluran baru, pelebaran saluran, pengerukan sedimentasi dan pembersihan sampah sudah dilaksanakan. Rehabilitasi dan normalisasi sungai alam sudah dilakukan dibeberapa tempat. Pengawasan, pengendalian, pemantauan dan evaluasi telah dilaksanakan dalam menanggulangi banjir. Kendala-kendala yang dihadapi adalah (a) Kendala Internal anggaran. (b) Kendala Eksternal (1) Partisipasi masyarakat Kota Samarinda masih tergolong pasif dan cenderung apathis.
