4. Description [Abstrak] :<\/strong> Tengkawang was a potential plant and form of endemic Trees in West Borneo. Tengkawang utilization with was not worth the amount of the growth. Tengkawang\u2019s blooming period was not known certainly yet, and dwindling in it was natural habitat as a consequence of logging practices and high levels of deforestation. Tengkawang was formerly easy to find, but now it becomes scarce. Cutting and other harvesting activities lead to declining natural tengkawang population.The research encountered by importace to protected genetic of tengkawang from degradation. According to Redlist IUCN several species of tengkawang are categorized as critically endangered, endangered and vulnerable. ITTO as forest organization try to keep tengkawang population. This research aimed to describes the role of International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) in attempt to conservation of genetic tengkawang in West borneo.The result showthat to ITTO main roleas adonorbut in their coorperation also helped implement conservation program. ITTO in coorperated with Indonesia government try toask people to conserve genetic of tengkawang. This tengkawang conservation efforts carried out in three districts in West Kalimantan by involving various stakeholders from both the Indonesian government. This program goes through three stages identification, conservation, and communication. In last program ITTO try to give alternative rule about protection of genetic tengkawang.<\/li>\n
