Description [Abstrak] : <strong>Pada penelitian ini, berfokus untuk menganalisis representasi ketidakhadiran ayah dalam film Ipar Adalah melalui penerapan pendekatan semiotika Peirce dan teori representasi Hall. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mengetahui bentuk makna representasi fatherless dalam film Ipar Adalah Maut. Dengan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat interpretatif, data diperoleh dari observasi sejumlah scene dalam film. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan teori semiotika Peirce, yang meliputi tanda, objek, dan interpretasi dan teori representasi Hall melalui tiga pendekatan: reflektif, intensional, dan konstruksionis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, didapatkan temuan yang menunjukkan adanya representasi fatherless pada film Ipar Adalah Maut yaitu, sebagai gambaran kehilangan figur ayah. Melalui representasi reflektif, film ini menunjukkan kondisi nyata dari keluarga fatherless, dengan representasi intensional, dialog antar karakter menegaskan keadaan yang dialami sebagai anak fatherless, serta dengan representasi konstruksionis, film ini berhasil membangun gambaran atau pandangan secara sosial tentang kondisi fatherless.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>  5.
